The Tybee Jet Corporation’s website is no more. It has been replaced by Van Swofford’s Playground. Same web address, way different content. This is what happens when you close your company and retire.It’s been an adjustment, but a good one.I like retirement! I never really thought much about retiring, until I was pretty much forced to do it by health issues. Well, here we are, along with the necessity to completely change the website, or just shut it sown. Shutdown, really? Not my style! Here’s what’s new.

The main page has been completely changed and is your starting point for my activities. Currently focussed on the book and music, photos will soon be added, and let me tell you, there are a gazillion photos to be added. The menu will take you anywhere, and bring you back.

Oh my! This is the heart of the website. First, every song that Ken Harrell and I have written together is on this page. You can listen to everything! But wait, there’s more. You can also download everything on this page, and play it from any device that can play an MP3 formatted audio file. More still, harking back to my youth, I have created a string quartet like my Mother had, and I’ve called it The Swanks, named for her band at Winthrop College in 1944. With the use of Suno AI, I’ve been able to create LOTS of classical-esque tunes. Enjoy the strains of the violin and viola, the bass of the cello, and the joyful sound of the piano. The songs are all named for people. First are people who are special to me, and then we have the nurses who have taken care of me, both in the hospital and in the offices of my doctors. Finally, there is a tribute to some very special people. Celebrating their Irish heritage, we have a song for the grandchildren of my friend Ken Harrell. Next is a tribute to Ken, a strong man and faithful friend. We have endured a lot of life’s lumps together! Finally, my tribute to Sandy. I saved what I think is the most beautiful of the songs for her, the most beautiful person I know, both inside and out. After the Swanks, we have a new group, called Baroquen Record, started to try my hand at creating some Baroque-esque tunes and relive the music from that great period. Enjoy!

I have made a few videos, which are slide shows with musical backing from our Music page. Please take a look at the video that goes with the book and song “It’s All About the Water”. These are experiments with video creation, so don’t expect Hollywood!
